Upper Mainline Cable Retension System

Work resumed today on the Upper Mainline Cable Retention System.  This system is designed to prevent rolling stock from taking the dreaded 4 1/2' fall to the concrete floor in the event of an accident or derailment. These types of incidents generally result in irreparable damage to HRC personnel and equipment.

This project was temporarily halted last year due to re-prioritization of resources.  However after a show, tell, and run session last week  with 3 children,  it became abundantly clear to HRC management that this system needed to begin immediately and progress at warp speed.

The system is comprised of 3/8" oak dowels for the posts, and 3 runs of braided mason's line dyed black and stretched tightly thru each post.   Work is expected to be completed by mid-winter.

Inaugural edition of the Hoschoton Railway Company model railroad blog.

This is the inaugural edition of the flagship  Hoschton Railway Company (HRC) blog.    This blog will attempt to detail the ongoing tasks  of building a model train layout.  The HRC layout is composed of  0-gauge trains spanning manufacture dates beginning in 1932 thru 2015.  It is an eclectic mix of new and old, conventional and command, 0 and 0-27, fantasy and realistic.  The primary goal of the HRC layout, and this blog, is to entertain and simply have some fun about the on-going adventures and mishaps during the construction and operation of the HRC.
